A distinctive feature of the MZM 120 is the additional locking function, which is generated electromagnetically, i.e. without contact. In this way, the switch and the actuator have no dead spots, e.g. for the insertion of a locking bolt. The entire design has smooth surfaces. The solenoid yoke and the anchor plate are coated with a special abrasion-proof non-stick coating (Nedox SF2). This coating ensures that the safety sensor will function durably and reliably, even when ex-posed to cleaning agents and other chemicals. In this way, the sensor is optimally suitable for applications in hygiene-sensitive areas.
Through the locking function of the MZM 120, the builder can prevent that the operator opens the safety guard when the machine is running, thus interrupting the production process. Thereby, a holding force of up to 500 N is generated.
The MZM 120 was tested in accordance with the requirements of IP 69 K (protection against water in case of high-pressure/steam jet cleaning). Its compact rectangular design offers the advantage that the safety switchgear can be smoothly integrated in the surrounding construction. Besides the construction of food-processing machinery, other typical fields of application for this new safety switchgear from the Schmersal Group are the beverage industry, the pharmaceutical production and the chemical industry.
