Social responsibility
The Schmersal Group is an industrial concern, but also a „Corporate Citizen“, which takes its responsibility in its neighbourhood and its community. In all of our production plants, we want to be good neighbours and partners to the communities. To this end, we promote local initiatives and we sponsor activities e.g. from charitable institutions and local sports clubs.
We also take up our social responsibility towards our staff members: one of the motivating forces behind our growth is our objective to offer our corporate personnel and their families permanently safe jobs and workplaces.
In addition to environmental protection and social responsibility towards its staff members, the corporate policy and the business relations from the Schmersal Group are inspired by the principle that every company also has a social responsibility towards the community as well and therefore has to follow pertinent ethical principles.
That is the reason why the Schmersal Group has signed in the "Code of Conduct" of the ZVEI. The fundamentals, the objectives and the recommendations for action of this Code of Conduct are integral part of the corporate philosophy and are considered binding.
This social responsibility towards our staff is also reflected in the kindergarten, which was opened at the premises of the Wuppertal headquarters early 2008. This kindergarten enables our (female) collaborators smoother combining their professional career with their family life. The pedagogic objectives of the kindergarten are challenging as well: as children are already highly receptive and eager to learn at pre-school age and actually „learn by play“, this receptivity and learning ability will deliberately be stimulated.
